At Box in a Box ("we", "our", or "us"), your privacy is a priority. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you play our game. By using our game, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Data We Collect
We collect the following data to enhance your experience in the game:
- Email: We will only use your email address for the following purposes:
- To communicate with you regarding account-related inquiries.
- To respond to any questions or issues you raise about your account or the game.
- To address any GDPR-related requests you may have.
- We do not use your email address for marketing purposes or share it with any third parties unless required by law.
- Username: A name randomly assigned and editable by the user that is visible publicly in the leaderboards in order to track your scores
- High Scores: Your in-game high scores, associated with your username.
- Input Type: The type of control used for each playthrough for comparison with players that use the same (e.g., touch, mouse, or keyboard).
- Play Count: The number of rounds you have played in the game.
- Experience Points: Points you collect while achieving scores within the game.
- Percentiles: The number of times you have achieved a certain threshhold (e.g. top 95%) in leaderboards
This data is stored in the backend via LootLocker, a third-party service used for data storage and leaderboard management.
2. Data Displayed in the Game
Your username, high scores, and input type will be publicly displayed in the in-game leaderboards. This allows you and other players to compare scores.
3. Data Retention and Deletion
- Leaderboards: Your high scores and input type data will be periodically reset every year. Your play count will remain until your account is deleted.
- Account Deletion: If your account remains inactive for 2 years, it will be automatically deleted, and all associated data (including high scores, input type, and play count) will be permanently erased from LootLocker’s servers.
- Manual Deletion: You can also manually delete your data and account by reaching out to us via email at any time. Upon deletion, all data will be removed from LootLocker.
- Loss of Access: If you lose access to your associated email account there is no way to recover your account. It will be automatically deleted once it reached the inactivity threshhold
4. Your Rights
- Access: You can request to get all the data collected about you at any time by contacting us via email.
- Deletion: You can request the deletion of your account and all associated data from within the app. Once your data is deleted, it will be permanently removed from LootLocker’s servers.
- Data Portability: You may request to receive a copy of your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format by contacting us via email.
5. Data Sharing
We do not share your personal data with any third parties, except for LootLocker, who provides backend services for storing and managing your data. LootLocker is contractually obligated to protect your data in accordance with their privacy policies.
6. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. International Data Transfers
By using our game, you consent to the transfer of your data to servers located in countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States, where LootLocker operates. These transfers are in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
8. Compliance with GDPR and U.S. Regulations
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation): As a company based in Europe, we are committed to complying with GDPR. If you are a resident of the European Union, you have the right to:
- Request access to the data we store about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.

- Request access to the personal data we have about you.
- Request deletion of your personal data.
- Opt-out of any data selling (note: we do not sell data).
9. User Conduct and Account Management
Inappropriate Usernames:
Users are expected to choose appropriate usernames that do not haras or discriminate anyone. Usernames deemed inappropriate by our team will be subject to renaming or account deletion. The determination of what constitutes an inappropriate username is at the sole discretion of our team.
Cheating and Fair Play:
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards cheating. Any attempts to cheat or manipulate our systems will result in an immediate ban. Users are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to our support team.
Service Termination and User Deletion:
We reserve the right to terminate our services to any user at any time, particularly if they engage in behavior that is disruptive, harmful, or violates our terms of service. Additionally, we may delete user accounts that demonstrate general misbehavior or fail to adhere to our community standards. This includes, but is not limited to, harassment, abuse, or any activity that undermines the integrity of our service.
